You have probably figured out by now, that I write these newsletters myself. I had a service that published and emailed newsletters for me in the past, and even though the content was good, it wasn’t very personal. It was almost as if the information was going into the abyss somewhere and never landed. Occasionally someone would respond, but mostly the emails were never even opened.
As I reviewed my business last year, I decided I would change things up and do it myself. I love to write and I love even more, helping people in some way, whether large or small. As a result, I get a lot of comments from many of you about the information I send and it truly warms my heart. I am also surprised by some of the positive comments I have received. There are the occasional questions about real estate and even some who tell me they have shared the content with family and friends. I love everything about that.
Today, I’ve decided to make this a little more personal. While typing this, my husband and I are on our way to see our oldest grandson get married. He and his fiancé are so precious, and he has always gripped my heart.
Earl and I had girls, no boys. We had two daughters, so I never knew the rambunctious fun of boys, until Dillon came along. I remember holding him as a baby, and being so surprised that even after a bath, he smelled like a boy. I didn’t know that was a thing.
When he was little, before kids had to ride in the back seat, he would sit next to me in the car and we would hold hands. We would drive by big fancy houses, and he told me he would own one when he grew up. I always said that I was going to live in the pool house so I could stay close to him and he would always laugh.
When he was in elementary school, I would often take him to school. Next door to the school was a water tower that housed the fire station in its base. As we would drive by it, we made up stories about the fire truck that lived in the water tower next to the schoolhouse. I always thought it would make a great children’s book series, and he would create the most fantastic tales. I wish I would have recorded them.
As he got older, he has always been so full of life and brilliance. The whole world is ahead of him. He and his beautiful bride-to-be both graduated college last spring, and were blessed with great jobs recently. They will spend the weekend surrounded by family and friends and I know God has an amazing future for them.
I’m sharing this to give you all a glimpse into my life. You see my husband and I have not always made the best decisions. We came from dysfunctional families, but they loved each other. We were not the best parents, but are so proud, because both of our daughters and their husbands are amazing parents.
Now all 4 of my grandkids (3 boys and 1 girl) all are starting their adulthood, not just with bright futures, but with good guidance that will help them make even better choices.
There is a principle in life, that what operates in the parents will operate exponentially in the children, then even on a larger scale in the grandchildren. Both good and bad.
We chose to do better than our parents, our children chose to do better than us, and we are seeing their children operate in like kind. This behavior, rooted in a strong faith in God, allows favor with both God and man. Because of that principle, we are seeing our grandchildren walk in great favor. Doors are opening for them, and they have the opportunity to make this world truly a better place.
I am a little freaked out though, that I could possibly be a great-grandma in the next few years, but I can’t wait to hold that first baby. I can’t wait to see what the other 3 grandkids become. One wants to get into some sort of law enforcement, the other is in school working on a criminal justice degree. The 3rd is absolutely brilliant and will be in a technology based business.
Even though the world seems to be in somewhat of a mess, I have high hopes for the future. I have no choice but to be hopeful, I have 4 grandkids that need to see that hope in me, so they can go forward into their future. I’m leaving a legacy of hope.
Thank you for allowing me to share a piece of my life with you.
