In the last couple of years, I personally have seen a significant increase in families or even individuals, from the suburbs of the DFW area, or even from the city, moving out to Wise County to begin Homesteading.

YouTube has an abundance of families who have moved into a homesteading lifestyle. Some have begun the process on the current piece of land in the suburbs,  others have sold out completely and taken on the lifestyle of country living.  Just start looking and you will find some amazing people who have overcome some unbelievable challenges, but love their lives.

Wikipedia defines Homesteading as s a lifestyle of self-sufficiency, characterized by subsistence agriculture, home preservation of food, and may also involve the small scale production of textiles, clothing, and craftwork for household use or sale.

Many are off-grid, using solar energy, gardening and raising their own meat animals and one of the keys to this type of lifestyle is isolation. They are tired of being told by an HOA or local government how to live and what they can do on their property.  Many want to get their children back to a more simple life, often without electronics or limited access to it.

I love taking people out to the country and looking at land. When the property is right, their eyes light up and they begin planning how to live on the land. They can visualize their lives in the new place and have hope for their future of freedom.
